Psalm 124:1-8 Part 4 of 4

What if the LORD had not been on our side?
    Let all Israel repeat:
What if the LORD had not been on our side
    when people attacked us?
They would have swallowed us alive
    in their burning anger.
The waters would have engulfed us;
a torrent would have overwhelmed us.
Yes, the raging waters of their fury
would have overwhelmed our very lives.

Praise the LORD,
who did not let their teeth tear us apart!
We escaped like a bird from a hunter's trap.
The trap is broken, and we are free!
Our help is from the LORD,
    who made heaven and earth.

Our help is from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
    (see all Genesis 1)
Psalm 121:2
My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth!  (see all Psalm 121)
Psalm 115:15
May you be blessed by the LORD,
who made heaven and earth.  (see all Psalm 115)
Psalm 134:3
May the LORD, who made heaven and earth,
bless you from Jerusalem.  (see all Psalm 134)
Hebrews 11:32-34
How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and all the prophets. By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions, quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight.  (see all Hebrews 11)

What if the LORD had not been on our side? Let all Israel repeat: What if the LORD had not been on our side when people attacked us?

Psalm 123:1-4 Part 2 of 2

I lift my eyes to you,
    O God, enthroned in heaven.
We keep looking to the LORD our God for his mercy,
just as servants keep their eyes on their master,
as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal.
Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy,
for we have had our fill of contempt.
We have had more than our fill of the scoffing of the proud
and the contempt of the arrogant.

We keep looking to the LORD our God for his mercy, just as servants keep their eyes on their master, as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal.
Malachi 1:6-7
The LORD of Heaven's Armies says to the priests: "A son honors his father, and a servant respects his master. If I am your father and master, where is the honor and respect I deserve? You have shown contempt for my name!
"But you ask, 'How have we ever shown contempt for your name?'
"You have shown contempt by offering defiled sacrifices on my altar.
"Then you ask, 'How have we defiled the sacrifices?'
"You defile them by saying the altar of the LORD deserves no respect."
    (see Malachi 1:6-14)
Isaiah 63:15
LORD, look down from heaven;
look from your holy, glorious home, and see us.
Where is the passion and the might
you used to show on our behalf?
Where are your mercy and compassion now?  (see Isaiah 63-66)

Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy, for we have had our fill of contempt. We have had more than our fill of the scoffing of the proud and the contempt of the arrogant.
Nehemiah 4:4-5
Then I prayed, "Hear us, our God, for we are being mocked. May their scoffing fall back on their own heads, and may they themselves become captives in a foreign land! Do not ignore their guilt. Do not blot out their sins, for they have provoked you to anger here in front of the builders."
(see all Nehemiah 4)
Psalm 4:1-2
Answer me when I call to you,
O God who declares me innocent.
Free me from my troubles.
Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
How long will you people ruin my reputation?
How long will you make groundless accusations?
How long will you continue your lies?  (see all Psalm 4)
Psalm 51:1-3
Have mercy on me, O God,
    because of your unfailing love.
Because of your great compassion,
blot out the stain of my sins.
Wash me clean from my guilt.
    Purify me from my sin.
For I recognize my rebellion;
it haunts me day and night.  (see all Psalm 51)
Psalm 79:4
We are mocked by our neighbors
an object of scorn and derision to those around us.  (see all Psalm 79)

You are my refuge; don't let them kill me.  (see all Psalm 141)
Hebrews 12:2
We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne.  (see Hebrews 12:1-4)

O God, enthroned in heaven.

Psalm 122:8-9

For the sake of my family and friends, I will say,
    "May you have peace."
For the sake of the house of the LORD our God,
I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem.

Psalm 128:3-6
Your wife will be like a fruitful grapevine,
    flourishing within your home.
Your children will be like vigorous young olive trees
as they sit around your table.
That is the LORD's blessing
    for those who fear him.
May the LORD continually bless you from Zion.
May you see Jerusalem prosper as long as you live.
May you live to enjoy your grandchildren.
May Israel have peace!  (see all Psalm 128)
Psalm 133
How wonderful and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in harmony!
For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil
that was poured over Aaron's head,
    that ran down his beard
and onto the border of his robe.
Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon
that falls on the mountains of Zion.
And there the LORD has pronounced his blessing,
    even life everlasting.
Psalm 78:68-69
He chose instead the tribe of Judah,
and Mount Zion, which he loved.
There he built his sanctuary as high as the heavens,
as solid and enduring as the earth.  (see all Psalm 78)
Micah 4:11-13
Now many nations have gathered against you.
"Let her be desecrated," they say.
"Let us see the destruction of Jerusalem."
But they do not know the LORD's thoughts
    or understand his plan.
These nations don't know
that he is gathering them together
to be beaten and trampled
like sheaves of grain on a threshing floor.
"Rise up and crush the nations, O Jerusalem!"
    says the LORD.
"For I will give you iron horns and bronze hooves,
so you can trample many nations to pieces.
You will present their stolen riches to the LORD,
their wealth to the Lord of all the earth."  (see all Micah 4)
