Lamentations 2:13-14 Part 2 of 2

                                       LAMENTATIONS

 

                         The faithful love of the LORD never ends! 

                                     His mercies never cease.

                                    Great is his faithfulness;

                            his mercies begin afresh each morning.

                                        Lamentations 3:22-23 

 

            I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely 

        with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow 

        with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

What can I say about you?

    Who has ever seen such sorrow?

O daughter of Jerusalem,

    to what can I compare your anguish?

O virgin daughter of Zion,

    how can I comfort you?

For your wound is as deep as the sea.

    Who can heal you?

Your prophets have said

    so many foolish things, false to the core.

They did not save you from exile

    by pointing out your sins.

Instead they painted false pictures,

    filling you with false hope.

Jeremiah 23:25-27 

    "I have heard these prophets say, 'Listen to the dream I had from God last night.' And then they proceed to tell lies in my name. How long will this go on? If they are prophets, they are prophets of deceit, inventing everything they say. By telling these false dreams, they are trying to get my people to forget me, just as their ancestors did by worshiping the idols of Baal."

Jeremiah 23:30-32  

    "Therefore," says the LORD, "I am against these prophets who steal messages from each other and claim they are from me. I am against these smooth-tongued prophets who say, 'This prophecy is from the LORD!' I am against these false prophets. Their imaginary dreams are flagrant lies that lead my people into sin. I did not send or appoint them, and they have no message at all for my people. I, the LORD, have spoken!"  (see all Jeremiah 23)

Jeremiah 28:15-17  

    Then Jeremiah the prophet said to Hananiah, "Listen, Hananiah! The LORD has not sent you, but the people believe your lies. Therefore, this is what the LORD says: 'You must die. Your life will end this very year because you have rebelled against the LORD.' "

    Two months later the prophet Hananiah died.  (see all Jeremiah 28)

Jeremiah 29:8-9  

    This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies, the God of Israel says: "Do not let your prophets and fortune-tellers who are with you in the land of Babylon trick you. Do not listen to their dreams, because they are telling you lies in my name. I have not sent them," says the LORD.  (see all Jeremiah 29)

Ezekiel 13:2-3  

"Son of man, prophesy against the false prophets of Israel who are inventing their own prophecies. Say to them, 'Listen to the word of the LORD. This is what the Sovereign LORD says: What sorrow awaits the false prophets who are following their own imaginations and have seen nothing at all!' "
