Lamentations 2:15-16

                                       LAMENTATIONS

 

                         The faithful love of the LORD never ends! 

                                     His mercies never cease.

                                    Great is his faithfulness;

                            his mercies begin afresh each morning.

                                        Lamentations 3:22-23 

 

            I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely 

        with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow 

        with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

All who pass by jeer at you.

    They scoff and insult beautiful Jerusalem, saying,

"Is this the city called 'Most Beautiful in all the World' 

    and 'Joy of all the Earth'?"

All your enemies mock you.

    They scoff and snarl and say,

"We have destroyed her at last!

    We have long waited for this day,

    and it is finally here!"

 

All who pass by jeer at you. They scoff and insult beautiful Jerusalem, 

Deuteronomy 28:37  

"You will become an object of horror, ridicule and mockery among all the nations to which the LORD sends you."  (see Deuteronomy 28:15-68) 

Job 27:23  

"But everyone jeers at them

    and mocks them."  (see all Job 27)

Jeremiah 18:16  

"Therefore, their land will become desolate,

    a monument to their stupidity.

All who pass by will be astonished 

    and will shake their heads in amazement."  (see Jeremiah 18:1-17)

Jeremiah 19:8 

" 'I will reduce Jerusalem to ruins, making it a monument to their stupidity. All who pass by will be astonished and will gasp at the destruction they see there.' "  (see all Jeremiah 19)

All your enemies mock you. They scoff and snarl and say, "We have destroyed her at last! We have long waited for this day, and it is finally here!"

People jeer and laugh at me.

    They slap my cheek in contempt.

Don't let them say, "Look, we got what we wanted!

Lamentations 3:45-46  

"You have discarded us as refuse and garbage

    among the nations.

All our enemies

Micah 4:11  

Now many nations have gathered against you.

    "Let her be desecrated," they say.
