The gods of other nations are mere idols,

Exodus 20:4  "You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on earth or in the sea."  (see verses 1-5)    

Leviticus 19:4  "Do not put your trust in idols or make metal images of gods for yourselves. I am the LORD your God."

Psalm 135:15  

The idols of the nations are merely things of silver and gold,

    shaped by human hands.  (see verses 15-18)

Isaiah 44:10-11  

Who but a fool would make his own god--

    an idol that cannot help him one bit?

All who worship idols will be disgraced

    along with all these craftsmen--mere humans--
