Luke 23:39-43 Part 1 of 2

One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, "So you're the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself--and us, too, while you're at it!" But the other criminal protested, "Don't you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn't done anything wrong." Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom." And Jesus replied, "I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise."

Matthew 27:43-44  "He trusted God, so let God rescue him now if he wants him! For he said, 'I am the Son of God.' " Even the revolutionaries who were crucified with him ridiculed him in the same way. (see also Mark 15:32)

 

But the other criminal protested, "Don't you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn't done anything wrong." 

Luke 23:4  Pilate turned to the leading priests and to the crowd and said, "I find nothing wrong with this man!" (see also verses 14, 22, Matthew 27:23, Mark 15:14, John 19:4)

Isaiah 53:11  When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins. (see verses 5-6)

Romans 4:25  He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God.

2 Corinthians 5:21  For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sins, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

1 Peter 2:22-23  He never sinned, nor even deceived anyone. He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.

Isaiah 53:7-8  He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people.
