Habakkuk 1:1-2

This is the message that the prophet Habakkuk received in a vision. How long, O LORD, must I call for help? But you do not listen! "Violence is everywhere!" I cry, but you do not come to save.

Jeremiah 23:33  "Suppose one of the people or one of the prophets or priests asks you, 'What prophecy has the LORD burdened you with now?' You must reply, 'You are the burden! The LORD says he will abandon you!' " (see verses 9-40)

Zechariah 9:1  This is the message from the LORD against the land of Aram and the city of Damascus, for the eyes of humanity, including all the tribes of Israel, are on the LORD. (see verses 1-6)

Zechariah 12:1  This message concerning the fate of Israel came from the LORD: "This message is from the LORD, who stretched out the heavens, laid the foundations of the earth, and formed the human spirit." (see all chapter 12)

 

How long, O LORD, must I call for help? 

Psalm 6:3  I am sick at heart. How long, O LORD, until you restore me? (see verses 1-10)

Psalm 89:46  O LORD, how long will this go on? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your anger burn like fire? (see verses 19-51, also Isaiah 6:1-13)

Zechariah 1:12  Upon hearing this (verses 7-11), the angel of the LORD prayed this prayer: "O LORD of Heaven's Armies, for seventy years now you have been angry with Jerusalem and the towns of Judah. How long until you again show mercy to them?"

Psalm 12:1-2  O LORD, how long will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way? How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand? (see all chapter 12)

 

But you do not listen! 

Job 19:7  "I cry out, 'Help!' but no one answers me. I protest, but there is no justice." (see verses 1-12)

Psalm 22:2  Every day I call to you, my God, but you do not answer. Every night you hear my voice, but I find no relief. (see all chapter 22)

 

"Violence is everywhere!" I cry, but you do not come to save. 

Jeremiah 14:9  "Are you also confused? Is our champion helpless to save us? You are right here among us, LORD. We are known as your people. Please don't abandon us now!" (see verses 1-18)

Luke 24:50-53

Then Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting his hands to heaven, he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven. So they worshiped him and then returned to Jerusalem filled with great joy. And they spent all of their time in the Temple, praising God.

2 Kings 2:11  As they were walking along and talking, suddenly a chariot of fire appeared, drawn by horses of fire. It drove between the two men, separating them, and Elijah was carried by a whirlwind into heaven. (see verses 1-18)

Mark 16:19  When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God's right hand.

Acts 1:9-11  After saying this (see verses 6-8), he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him. As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them. "Men of Galilee," they said, "why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go."

 

So they worshiped him and then returned to Jerusalem filled with great joy. 

Matthew 28:8-9  The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel's message. And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him.

 

And they spent all of their time in the Temple, praising God. 

Acts 2:46-47  They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity--all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

Acts 3:1  Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o'clock service. (see all chapter 3)

Acts 5:42  And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: "Jesus is the Messiah." (see verses 17-42)

Luke 24:49

"And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven."

 

Joel 2:28-29  "Then, after doing all these things (see verses 18-27), I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Isaiah 32:14-15  The palace and the city will be deserted, and busy towns will be empty. Wild donkeys will frolic and flocks will graze in the empty forts and watchtowers until at last the Spirit is poured out on us from heaven. John 14:16-17  "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you."

John 14:25-26  "I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative--that is, the Holy Spirit--he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you."

Acts 2:33  "Now he is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God's right hand. And the Father, as he had promised, gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today." (see all chapter 2)

Ephesians 1:12-14  God's purpose (see verses 9-11) was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God. And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God's guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.

Luke 24:46-48 Part 2 of 2

And he said, "Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise again on the third day. It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: 'There is forgiveness of sin for all who repent.' You are witnesses of these things."

He was with the Father, and then was revealed to us. We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 53:5  But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.

Isaiah 53:7-8  He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died with out descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people. Matthew 17:22-23  After they gathered again in Galilee, Jesus told them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of his enemies. He will be killed, but on the third day he will be raised from the dead." And the disciples were filled with grief. Still they stood there in disbelief, filled with joy and wonder. Then he asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?" They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he ate it as they watched. Then he said, "When I was with you before, I told you that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must be fulfilled." Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.

Mark 16:14  Still later he appeared to the eleven disciples as they were eating together. He rebuked them for their stubborn unbelief because they refused to believe those who had seen him after he had been raised from the dead.

Acts 10:41b-42  "We were those who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. And he ordered us to preach everywhere and to testify that Jesus is the one appointed by God to be the judge of all--the living and the dead." (see chapter 10-11:18)

Matthew 16:21  From then on Jesus began to tell his disciples plainly that it was necessary for him to go to Jerusalem, and that he would suffer many terrible things at the hands of the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. Luke 22:27  "For the time has come for this prophecy about me to be fulfilled: 'He was counted among the rebels.' (Isaiah 53:12) Yes, everything written about me by the prophets will come true."

Luke 24:6  "He isn't here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, ..." (see Luke 9:44-45, 18:31-34)

 

Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.

1 John 5:20  And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life.

Luke 24:36-40

And just as they were telling about it, Jesus himself was suddenly standing there among them. "Peace be with you," he said. But the whole group was startled and frightened, thinking they were seeing a ghost! "Why are you frightened?" he asked. "Why are your hearts filled with doubt? Look at my hands. Look at my feet. You can see that it's really me. Touch me and make sure that I am not a ghost, because ghosts don't have bodies, as you see that I do." As he spoke he showed them his hands and feet.

 

And just as they were telling about it, Jesus himself was suddenly standing there among them. "Peace be with you," he said.

John 20:19  That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! "Peace be with you," he said. (see verses 21, 26)

John 14:27  "I am leaving you a gift--peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid." (see all chapter 14)

Philippians 4:6-7  Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Mark 6:48-49  He saw that they were in serious trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind and waves. About three o'clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. He intended to go past them, but when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. (see verses 45-52, also Matthew 14:22-33)

John 20:20  As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord!

John 20:25-27  They told him (Thomas), "We have see the Lord!" But he replied, "I won't believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, and put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side." Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. "Peace be with you," he said. Then he said to Thomas, 'Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don't be faithless any longer. Believe!" (see verses 24-29, also 1 John 1:1)
