"He
has been merciful to our ancestors by remembering his sacred covenant--the covenant he swore with an oath to our ancestor Abraham."
"He has been merciful to our ancestors"
Micah 7:20 You will show us your faithfulness and unfailing love as you promised our ancestors Abraham and Jacob long ago.
"by remembering his sacred covenant"
Leviticus 26:42 "Then I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land."
Psalm 105:8-11 He always stands by his covenant--the commitment he made to a thousand generations. This is the covenant he made with Abraham and the oath he swore to Isaac. He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, and to the people of Israel as a never-ending covenant: "I will give you the land of Canaan as your special possession."
Psalm 106:42-46 Their enemies crushed them and brought them under their cruel power. Again and again he rescued them, but they chose to rebel against him, and they were finally destroyed by their sin. Even so, he pitied them in their distress and listened to their cries. He remembered his covenant with them and relented because of his unfailing love. He even caused their captors to treat them with kindness.
Romans 9:4-5 They are the people of Israel, chosen to be God's adopted children. God revealed his glory to them. He made covenants with them and gave them his law. He gave them the privilege of worshiping him and receiving his wonderful promises. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are their ancestors, and Christ himself was an Israelite as far as his human nature is concerned. And he is God, the one who rules over everything and is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.
