So I want to remind you, though you already know these things, that Jesus first rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not remain faithful.
Exodus 14:21-22
Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the LORD opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land. So the people of Israel walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side! (see all chapter 14)
Numbers 14:27-30 "How long must I put up with this wicked community and its complaints about me? Yes, I have heard the complaints the Israelites are making against me. Now tell them this: 'As surely as I live, declares the LORD, I will do to you the very things I heard you say. You will all drop dead in this wilderness! Because you complained against me, every one of you who is twenty years old or older and was included in the registration (Numbers 1) will die. You will not enter and occupy the land I swore to give you. The only exceptions will be Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.' " (see all chapters 13-14)
1 Corinthians 10:5 Yet God was not pleased with most of them, and their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. (see verses 1-11, also Exodus 32:1-10, Numbers chapters 11, 12, 16, 20, 21, 25)
Hebrews 3:16-19 And who was it who rebelled against God, even though they heard his voice? Wasn't it the people Moses led out of Egypt? And who made God angry for forty years? Wasn't it the people who sinned, whose corpses lay in the wilderness? And to whom was God speaking when he took an oath that they would never enter his rest? Wasn't it the people who disobeyed him? So we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter his rest. (see all chapter 3, also Psalm 95:8-11, Exodus 15:22-27, all of chapter 16, 17:1-7)
Deuteronomy 9:6-8 "You must recognize that the LORD your God is not giving you this good land because you are good, for you are not--you are a stubborn people. Remember and never forget how angry you made the LORD your God out in the wilderness. From the day you left Egypt until now, you have been constantly rebelling against him. Even at Mount Sinai you made the LORD so angry he was ready to destroy you." (see all chapter 9, Psalm 106)
