Malachi 1:6-7 Part 1 of 2

The LORD of Heaven's Armies says to the priests: "A son honors his father, and a servant respects his master. If I am your father and master, where is the honor and respect I deserve? You have shown contempt for my name! But you ask, 'How have we shown contempt for your name?' You have shown contempt by offering defiled sacrifices on my altar. Then you ask, 'How have we defiled the sacrifices?' You defile them by saying the altar of the LORD deserves no respect."

The LORD of Heaven's Armies says to the priests: "A son honors his father,"

Exodus 20:12  "Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the LORD your God is giving you."

Leviticus 20:9  "Anyone who dishonors father or mother must be put to death. Such a person is guilty of a capital offense."

Matthew 15:4  "For instance, God says, 'Honor your father and mother,' and 'Anyone who speaks disrespectfully of father or mother must be put to death.' " (see verses 3-9)

Ephesians 6:1-3  Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. "Honor your father and mother." This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, "things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth."

Luke 6:46  "So why do you keep calling me 'Lord, Lord!' when you don't do what I say?" (see verses 46-49)

"If I am your father and master, where is the honor and respect I deserve?" 

Deuteronomy 31:12  "Call them all together--men, women, children, and all the foreigners living in your towns--so they may hear this Book of Instruction and learn to fear the LORD your God and carefully obey all the terms of these instructions." (see verses 9-13)

Isaiah 1:2-3  Listen, O heavens! Pay attention, earth! This is what the LORD says: "The children I raised and cared for have rebelled against me. Even an ox knows its owner, and a donkey recognizes its master's care--but Israel doesn't know its master. My people don't recognize my care for them." (see all chapter 1)
