Malachi 2:1-2 Part 1 of 2

"Listen, you priests--this command is for you! Listen to me and make up your minds to honor my name," says the LORD of Heaven's Armies, "or I will bring a terrible curse against you. I will curse even the blessings you receive. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you have not taken my warning to heart."

"Listen, you priests--this command is for you!"

Malachi 2:7  "The words of a priest's lips should preserve knowledge of God, and people should go to him for instruction, for the priest is the messenger of the LORD of Heaven's Armies." (see verses 5-9)

"Listen to me" 

Jeremiah 13:17  And if you still refuse to listen, I will weep alone because of your pride. My eyes will overflow with tears, because the LORD's flock will be led away into exile. (see verses 15-27)

"and make up your minds to honor my name." says the LORD of Heaven's Armies," 

Matthew 15:7-9  "You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote,

        'These people honor me with their lips,

            but their hearts are far from me.

        Their worship is a farce,

            for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.' " (Isaiah 29:13)  (see verses 1-20)

Colossians 2:20-22  You have died with Christ, and he has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world. So why do you keep on following the rules of the world, such as "Don't handle! Don't taste! Don't touch!" Such rules are mere human teachings about things that deteriorate as we use them. (see verses 6-23)

John 5:23b  "Anyone who does not honor the Son is certainly not honoring the Father who sent him." (see verses 16-30)

1 Timothy 6:16  He alone can never die, and he lives in light so brilliant that no human can approach him. No human eye has ever seen him, nor ever will. All honor and power to him forever! Amen. (see verses 11-16)

Revelation 5:12-13  And they sang in a mighty chorus:

        "Worthy is the lamb who was slaughtered--

            to receive power and riches

        and wisdom and strength

            and honor and glory and blessing."

And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang:

        "Blessing and honor and glory and power

            belong to the one sitting on the throne

        and to the Lamb forever and ever." (see verses 6-14)
