Lamentations 1:5-7 Part 1 of 3

                                   LAMENTATIONS
The faithful love of the LORD never ends!
                                     His mercies never cease.
                                    Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.
                                        Lamentations 3:22-23

Her oppressors have become her masters,
    and her enemies prosper,
for the LORD has punished Jerusalem
    for her many sins.
Her children have been captured
and taken away to distant lands.
All the majesty of beautiful Jerusalem
    has been stripped away.
Her princes are like starving deer
    searching for pasture.
They are too weak to run
    from the pursuing enemy.
In the midst of her sadness and wandering,
    Jerusalem remembers her ancient splendor.
But now she has fallen to her enemy,
and there is no one to help her.
Her enemy struck her down
    and laughed as she fell.

Her oppressors have become her masters, and her enemies prosper, for the LORD has punished Jerusalem for her many sins. Her children have been captured and taken away to distant lands.
Lamentations 2:17
But it is the LORD who did just as he planned.
He has fulfilled the promises of disaster
    he made long ago.
He has destroyed Jerusalem without mercy.
He has caused her enemies to gloat over her
and has given them power over her.  (see Lamentations 2:13-17)
2 Chronicles 33:9
But Manasseh led the people of Judah and Jerusalem to do even more evil than the pagan nations that the LORD had destroyed when the people of Israel entered the land.  (see 2 Chronicles 33:1-20)
Psalm 90:7-8
We wither beneath your anger;
we are overwhelmed by your fury.
You spread out our sins before you--
our secret sins-- and you see them all.  (see all Psalm 90)
Ezekiel 8:17-18
"Have you seen this, son of man?" he (the LORD) asked. "Is it nothing to the people of Judah that they commit these detestable sins, leading the whole nation into violence, thumbing their noses at me, and provoking my anger? Therefore, I will respond in fury. I will neither pity nor spare them. And though they cry for mercy, I will not listen."
Ezekiel 9:9-10
Then he said to me, "The sins of the people of Israel and Judah are very, very great. The entire land is full of murder; the city is filled with injustice. They are saying, 'The LORD doesn't see it! The LORD has abandoned the land!' So I will not spare them or have any pity on them. I will fully repay them for all they have done."  (see all Ezekiel 8-9)
Jeremiah 10:20
My home is gone,
and no one is left to help me rebuild it.
My children have been taken away,
and I will never see them again.  (see all Jeremiah 10)
