Psalm 119:65-72 Part 3a

                    TETH 

You have done many good things for me, LORD,

    just as you promised.

I believe in your commands;

    now teach me good judgment and knowledge.

I used to wander off until you disciplined me;

    but now I closely follow your word.

You are good and only do good;

    teach me your decrees.

Arrogant people smear me with lies,

    but in truth I obey your commandments with all my heart.

Their hearts are dull and stupid,

    but I delight in your instructions.

My suffering was good for me,

    for it taught me to pay attention to your decrees.

Your instructions are more valuable to me

    than millions in gold and silver. 

 

I used to wander off 

Ephesians 4:18  

Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him.  (see Ephesians 4:17-32)

1 Timothy 6:10  

For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.  (see all 1 Timothy 6) 

1 Peter 2:25  

Once you were like sheep

    who wandered away.

But now you have turned to your Shepherd,

    the Guardian of your souls.  (see 1 Peter 2:21-25)

 

until you disciplined me; 

Psalm 119:75  

I know, O LORD, that your regulations are fair;

    you disciplined me because I needed it.  (see Psalm 119:73-80)

Proverbs 15:10  

Whoever abandons the right path will be severely disciplined;

    whoever hates correction will die.  (see all Proverbs 15)

Psalm 94:12  

Joyful are those you discipline, LORD,

    those you teach with your instructions.  (see all Psalm 94)

Hebrews 12:7  

As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father?"  (see Hebrews 12:5-13, also Proverbs 3:11-12)
