Psalm 119:65-72 Part 5b

                    TETH 

You have done many good things for me, LORD,

    just as you promised.

I believe in your commands;

    now teach me good judgment and knowledge.

I used to wander off until you disciplined me;

    but now I closely follow your word.

You are good and only do good;

    teach me your decrees.

Arrogant people smear me with lies,

    but in truth I obey your commandments with all my heart.

Their hearts are dull and stupid,

    but I delight in your instructions.

My suffering was good for me,

    for it taught me to pay attention to your decrees.

Your instructions are more valuable to me

    than millions in gold and silver.

Psalm 73:7-8  

These fat cats have everything

    their hearts could ever wish for! 

They scoff and speak only evil;

    in their pride they seek to crush others.  (see all Psalm 73)

Isaiah 6:9-10  

    And he said, "Yes, go, and say this to the people,

    'Listen carefully, but do not understand.

        Watch closely, but learn nothing.'

    Harden the hearts of these people.

        Plug their ears and shut their eyes.

    That way, they will not see with their eyes,

        nor hear with their ears,

    nor understand with their hearts

        and turn to me for healing."  (see all Isaiah 6)

Isaiah 29:13  

And so the LORD says,

    "These people say they are mine.

They honor me with their lips,

    but their hearts are far from me.

And their worship of me

    is nothing but man-made rules learned by rote."  (see all Isaiah 29)

Ezekiel 33:30-31  

    "Son of man, your people talk about you in their houses and whisper about you at the doors. They say to each other, 'Come on, let's go hear the prophet tell us what the LORD is saying!' So my people come pretending to be sincere and sit before you. They listen to your words, but they have no intention of doing what you say. Their mouths are full of lustful words, and their hearts seek only after money."  (see all Jeremiah 33)
