Luke 9:51-56 Part 1 of 2

As the time drew near for him to ascend to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. He sent messengers ahead to a Samaritan village to prepare for his arrival. But the people of the village did not welcome Jesus because he was on his way to Jerusalem. When James and John saw this, they said to Jesus, "Lord, should we call down fire from heaven to burn them up?" But Jesus turned and rebuked them. So they went on to another village.
 
As the time drew near for him to ascend to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.
Luke 13:22  Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he went, always pressing on toward Jerusalem.
Luke 17:11  As Jesus continued on toward Jerusalem, he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria.
Luke 18:31  Taking the twelve disciples aside, Jesus said, "Listen, we're going up to Jerusalem, where all the predictions of the prophets concerning the Son of Man will come true."
Luke 19:11  The crowd was listening to everything Jesus said. And because he was nearing Jerusalem, he told them a story to correct the impression that the Kingdom of God would begin right away.
Luke 19:28  After telling this story (see verses 12-27), Jesus went on toward Jerusalem, walking ahead of his disciples.
Isaiah 50:7  Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore, I have set my face like a stone, determined to do his will. And I know that I will not be put to shame.
 
He sent messengers ahead to a Samaritan village to prepare for his arrival. 
1 Kings 16:24  Then Omri (king of Israel) bought the hill now known as Samaria from its owner, Shemer, for 150 pounds of silver. He built a city on it and called the city Samaria in honor of Shemer. 
2 Kings 17:24  The king of Assyria transported groups of people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sepharvaim and resettled them in the towns of Samaria, replacing the people of Israel. They took possession of Samaria and lived in its towns. (see verses 35-41)
John 4:9  The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, "You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?" (see verses 4-42)
