Psalm 87:1-3 Part 1 of 3

On the holy mountain

    stands the city founded by the LORD.

He loves the city of Jerusalem

    more than any other city in Israel.

O city of God,

    what glorious things are said of you!

On the holy mountain stands the city founded by the LORD.

Exodus 15:17 

    You will bring them in and plant them on your own mountain--

        the place, O LORD, reserved for your own dwelling,

    the sanctuary, O LORD, that your hands have established.

Psalm 2:6  

    For the LORD declares, "I have placed my chosen king on the throne

        in Jerusalem, on my holy mountain."  (see all Psalm 2)

Psalm 48:1  

    How great is the LORD,

        how deserving of praise,

    in the city of our God,

        which sits on his holy mountain!  (see all Psalm 48)

Psalm 68:16  

    Why do you look with envy, O rugged mountains,

        at Mount Zion, where God has chosen to live,

        where the LORD himself will live forever?  (see all Psalm 68)

Isaiah 66:20  "They will bring the remnant of your people back from every nation. They will bring them to my holy mountain in Jerusalem as an offering to the LORD. They will ride on horses, in chariots and wagons, and on mules and camels," says the LORD.  (see all chapter 31)

Jeremiah 31:23  This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies, the God of Israel, says: "When I bring them back from captivity, the people of Judah and its towns will again say, 'The LORD bless you, O righteous home, O holy mountain!' "  (see all chapter 31)

Micah 4:1-2  

    In the last days, the mountain of the LORD's house

        will be the highest of all--

        the most important place on earth.

    It will be raised above the other hills,

        and people from all over the world will stream there to worship.

    People from many nations will come and say,

    "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,

        to the house of Jacob's God.

    There he will teach us his ways,

        and we will walk in his paths."

    For the LORD's teaching will go out from Zion;

        his word will go out from Jerusalem.  (see all chapter 4)

Zechariah 8:3  "And now the LORD says: I am returning to Mount Zion, and I will live in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City; the mountain of the LORD of Heavens' Armies will be called the Holy Mountain."  (see all chapter 8)
