Psalm 109:21-25 Part 2 of 2

But deal well with me, O Sovereign LORD,
    for the sake of your own reputation!
Rescue me
    because you are so faithful and good.
For I am poor and needy,
    and my heart is full of pain.
I am fading like a shadow at dusk;
    I am brushed off like a locust.
My knees are weak from fasting,
    and I am skin and bones.
I am a joke to people everywhere;
    when they see me, they shake their heads in scorn.

I am fading like a shadow at dusk; I am brushed off like a locust.
Job 8:9
"For we were born but yesterday and know nothing.
    Our days on earth are as fleeting as a shadow."  (see all Job 8)
Job 14:1-2
"How frail is humanity!
    How short is life, how full of trouble!
We blossom like a flower and then wither.
    Like a passing shadow, we quickly disappear."  (see all Job 14)

My knees are weak from fasting, and I am skin and bones.
Job 16:8
"As if to prove I have sinned, you've reduced me to skin and bones.
    My gaunt flesh testifies against me."  (see all Job 16)
Job 19:20
"I have been reduced to skin and bones
    and have escaped death by the skin of my teeth."  (see all Job 19)

I am a joke to people everywhere; when they see me, they shake their heads in scorn.
Job 16:10
"People jeer and laugh at me.
    They slap my cheek in contempt.
    A mob gathers against me."  (see all Job 16)
Psalm 22:6
But I am a worm and not a man.
    I am scorned and despised by all!  (see all Psalm 22)
Matthew 27:39-40  The people passing by shouted abuse, shaking their heads in mockery. "Look at you now!" they yelled at him. "You said you were going to destroy the Temple and rebuild it in three days. Well then, if you are the Son of God, save yourself and come down from the cross!"
(see Matthew 27:39-44, also Mark 15:29-32, Luke 23:35-43)
