Psalm 135:15-18 Part 1 of 3

The idols of the nations are merely things of silver and gold,

    shaped by human hands.

They have mouths but cannot speak,

    and eyes but cannot see.

They have ears but cannot hear,

    and mouths but cannot breathe.

And those who make idols are just like them,

    as are all who trust in them.

Psalm 115:4

Their idols are merely things of silver and gold,

    shaped by human hands.

Psalm 96:5  

The gods of other nations are mere idols,

    but the LORD made the heavens!  (see all Psalm 96)

Revelation 9:20-21  

    But the people who did not die in these plagues still refused to repent of their deeds and turn to God. They continued to worship demons and idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood--idols that can neither see nor hear nor walk! And they did not repent of their murders or their witchcraft or their sexual immorality or their thefts.  (see Revelation 9:13-22)

Isaiah 2:8  

Their land is full of idols;

    the people worship things they have made

    with their own hands.  (see Isaiah 2:5-22)

Isaiah 37:19  

"And they have thrown down the gods of these nations into the fire and burned them. But of course the Assyrians could destroy them! They were not gods at all--only idols of wood and stone shaped by human hands.

Isaiah 40:18-20  

To whom can you compare God?

    What image can you find to resemble him?

Can he be compared to an idol formed in a mold,

    overlaid with gold, and decorated with silver chains?

Or if people are too poor for that,

    they might at least choose wood that won't decay

and a skilled craftsman

    to carve an image that won't fall down!  (see Isaiah 40:12-31)

Jeremiah 1:15-16  

"Listen! I am calling the armies of the kingdoms of the north to come to Jerusalem. I, the LORD, have spoken!"

    "They will set their thrones

        at the gates of the city.

    They will attack its walls

        and all the other towns of Judah.

    I will pronounce judgment

        on all my people for all their evil--

    for deserting me and burning incense to other gods.

        Yes, they worship idols made with their own hands!"
