Psalm 136:16-22 Part 2 of 3

Give thanks to him who led his people through the wilderness.
    His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to him who struck down mighty kings.
    His faithful love endures forever.
He killed powerful kings--
    His faithful love endures forever.
Sihon king of the Amorites,
    His faithful love endures forever.
and Og king of Bashan.
    His faithful love endures forever.
God gave the land of these kings as an inheritance--
    His faithful love endures forever.
a special possession to his servant Israel.
    His faithful love endures forever.

He killed powerful kings-- ... Sihon king of the Amorites, ... and Og king of Bashan. His faithful love endures forever.
Deuteronomy 29:7-8
"When we came here, King Sidon of Heshbon and King Og of Bashan came out to fight against us, but we defeated them. We took their land and gave it to the tribes of Reuben and Gad and to the half-tribe of Manasseh as their grant of land.  (see Deuteronomy 29:7-13)
Numbers 21:23-25
But King Sihon refused to let them cross his territory. Instead, he mobilized his entire army and attacked Israel in the wilderness, engaging them in battle at Jahaz. But the Israelites slaughtered them with their swords and occupied their land from the Arnon River to the Jabbok River. They went only as far as the Ammonite border because the boundary of the Ammonites was fortified.
So Israel captured all the towns of the Amorites and settled in them, including the city of Heshbon and its surrounding villages.
Numbers 21:33-35
Then they turned and marched up the road to Bashan, but King Og of Bashan and all his people attacked them at Edrei. The LORD said to Moses, "Do not be afraid of him, for I have handed him over to you, along with all his people and his land. Do the same to him as you did to King Sihon of the Amorites, who ruled in Heshbon." And Israel killed King Og, his sons, and all his subjects, not a single survivor remained. Then Israel occupied their land.  (see all Numbers 21)
