Luke 1:18-20 Part 1 of 2

Zechariah said to the angel, "How can I be sure this will happen? I am an old man now, and my wife is also well along in years." Then the angel said, "I am Gabriel! I stand in the very presence of God. It was he who sent me to bring you this good news! But now, since you didn't believe what I said, you will be silent and unable to speak until the child is born. For my words will certainly be fulfilled at the proper time."

Zechariah said to the angel, "How can I be sure this will happen?"

Genesis 15:8  But Abram replied, "O Sovereign LORD, how can I be sure that I will actually possess it?"

Judges 6:17  Gideon replied, "If you are truly going to help me, show me a sign to prove that it is really the LORD speaking to me."

2 Kings 20:8  Meanwhile, Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "What sign will the LORD give to prove that he will heal me and that I will go to the Temple of the LORD three days from now?"

1 Corinthians 1:21-23  Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe. It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom. So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it's all nonsense.

 

"I am an old man now, and my wife is also well along in years." 

Luke 1:34  Mary asked the angel, "But how can this happen? I am a virgin."

Genesis 17:17  Then Abraham bowed down to the ground, but he laughed to himself in disbelief, "How could I become a father at the age of 100?" he thought. "And how can Sarah have a baby when she is ninety years old?"

 

Then the angel said, "I am Gabriel!" 

Luke 1:26-27  In the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. 

Daniel 8:17  And I heard a human voice calling out from the Ulai River, "Gabriel, tell this man the meaning of his vision." 

Daniel 9:21  As I was praying, Gabriel, whom I had seen in the earlier vision, came swiftly to me at the time of the evening sacrifice.
