Luke 1:23-25 Part 1 of 2

When Zechariah's week of service in the Temple was over, he returned home. Soon afterward his wife, Elizabeth, became pregnant and went into seclusion for five months. "How kind the Lord is!" she exclaimed. "He has taken away my disgrace of having no children."

1 Chronicles 9:24-25  The gatekeepers were stationed on all four sides--east, west, north, and south. Their relatives in the villages came regularly to share their duties for seven-day periods.
2 Chronicles 23:8  So the Levites and all the people of Judah did everything as Jehoiada the priest ordered. The commanders took charge of the men reporting for duty that Sabbath, as well as those who were going off duty. Jehoiada did not let anyone go home after their shift ended.
2 Kings 11:5-8  Jehoiada told them, "This is what you must do. A third of you who are on duty on the Sabbath are to guard the royal palace itself. Another third of you are to stand guard at the Sur Gate. And the final third must stand guard behind the palace guard. These three groups will all guard the palace. The other two units who are off duty on the Sabbath must stand guard for the king (Joash) at the LORD's Temple. Form a body guard around the king and keep your weapons in hand. Kill anyone who tries to break through. Stay with the king wherever he goes."
Luke 1:8  One day Zechariah was serving God in the Temple, for his order was on duty that week.
