"He
has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away with
empty hands. He has helped his servant Israel and remembered to be
merciful. For he made this promise to our ancestors, to Abraham and his
children forever." Mary stayed with Elizabeth about three months and
then went back to her own home.
"For he made this promise to our ancestors, to Abraham and his children forever."
Genesis 17:19 But God replied, "No--Sarah, your wife, will give birth to a son for you. You will name him Isaac ("he laughs"), and I will confirm my covenant with him and his descendants as an everlasting covenant."
Psalm 132:11 The LORD swore an oath to David with a promise he will never take back: "I will place one of your descendants on your throne."
Micah 7:20 You will show us your faithfulness and unfailing love as you promised to our ancestors Abraham and Jacob long ago.
Romans 4:13 Clearly, God's promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was based not on his obedience to God's law, but on a right relationship with God that comes by faith.
Romans 4:16 So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham's. For Abraham is the father of all who believe.
Romans 9:4 They are the people of Israel, chosen to be God's adopted children. God revealed his glory to them. He made covenants with them and gave them his law. He gave them the privilege of worshiping him and receiving his wonderful promises.
Mary stayed with Elizabeth about three months and then went back to her own home.
Luke 1:36-40 "What's more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she has conceived a son and is now in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God." Mary responded, "I am the Lord's servant. May everything you have said about me come true." And then the angel left her. A few days later Mary hurried to the hill country of Judea, to the town where Zechariah lived. She entered the house and greeted Elizabeth.
