Luke 8:26-29 Part 1 of 2

So they arrived in the region of the Gerasenes, across the lake from Galilee. As Jesus was climbing out of the boat, a man who was possessed by demons came out to meet him. For a long time he had been homeless and naked, living in a cemetery outside the town. As soon as he saw Jesus, he shrieked and fell down in front of him. Then he screamed, "Why are you interfering with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Please, I beg you, don't torture me!" For Jesus had already commanded the evil spirit to come out of him. This spirit had often taken control of the man. Even when he was placed under guard and put in chains and shackles, he simply broke them and rushed out into the wilderness, completely under the demon's power.

So they arrived in the region of the Gerasenes, across the lake from Galilee.

Matthew 8:28a  When Jesus arrived on the other side of the lake, in the region of the Gadarenes, ...

Mark 5:1  So they arrived at the other side of the lake, in the region of the Gerasenes.

As Jesus was climbing out of the boat, a man who was possessed by demons came out to meet him. 

Matthew 8:28b  ... two men who were possessed by demons met him.

Mark 5:2  When Jesus climbed out of the boat, a man possessed by an evil spirit came out from a cemetery to meet him.

For a long time he had been homeless and naked, living in a cemetery outside the town. 

Matthew 8:28c  They lived in a cemetery and were so violent that no one could go through that area.

Mark 5:3  This man lived among the burial caves and could no longer be restrained, even with a chain.

Mark 5:5  Day and night he wandered among the burial caves and in the hills, howling and cutting himself with sharp stones.

As soon as he saw Jesus, he shrieked and fell down in front of him. 

Mark 5:6  When Jesus was still some distance away, the man saw him, ran to meet him, and bowed low before him.
