One
Sabbath day Jesus went to eat dinner in the home of a leader of the
Pharisees, and the people were watching him closely. There was a man
there whose arms and legs were swollen. Jesus asked the Pharisees and
experts in religious law, "Is it permitted in the law to heal people on
the Sabbath day, or not?" When they refused to answer, Jesus touched the
sick man and healed him and sent him away. Then he turned to them and
said, "Which of you doesn't work on the Sabbath? If your son or your cow
falls into a pit, don't you rush to get him out?" Again they could not
answer.
There was a man there whose arms and legs were swollen. Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in religious law,
Matthew 22:35 One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: ... [see verses 34-40]
Luke 5:17 One day while Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of religious law were sitting nearby. (It seemed that these men showed up from every village in all Galilee and Judea, as well as from Jerusalem.) And the Lord's healing power was strongly with Jesus.
Luke 6:7 The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees watched Jesus closely. If he healed the man's hand, they planned to accuse him of working on the Sabbath. [see verses 6-11]
Luke 7:30 But the Pharisees and experts in religious law rejected God's plan for them, for they had refused John's baptism. [see verses 24-35]
Luke 10:25 One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question: "Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?" [see verses 25-37]
Luke 11:45 "Teacher," said an expert in religious law, "you have insulted us, too, in what you said." [see verses 39-54]
Luke 20:45-47 Then with the crowds listening, he turned to his disciples and said, "Beware of these teachers of religious law! For they like to parade around in flowing robes and love to receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces. And how they love the seats of honor in the synagogues and the head table at banquets. Yet they shamelessly cheat widows out of their property and then pretend to be pious by making long prayers in public. Because of this, they will be severely punished."
