If
you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He
will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your
faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty
is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the
wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are
unstable in everything they do.
But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.
Matthew 21:21-22 Then Jesus told them, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don't doubt, you can do things like this (see verses 18-20) and much more. You can even say to this mountain, 'May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and it will happen. You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it." (see also Matthew 17:14-21)
Luke 17:5-6 The apostles said to the Lord, "Show us how to increase our faith." The Lord answered, "If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, 'May you be uprooted and thrown into the sea' and it would obey you!"
Mark 11:23-24 "I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, 'May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you've received it, it will be yours." (see verses 20-25)
Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.
Psalm 119:113 I hate those with divided loyalties, but I love your instructions. (see verses 113-120)
James 4:8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and world. (see verses 1-10)
2 Peter 3:15-16 And remember, our Lord's patience gives people time to be saved. This is what our brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him--speaking of these things in all of his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction. (see all chapter 3)
