James 1:13-15 Part 2 of 2

And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, "God is tempting me." God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.

 

These desires give birth to sinful actions.

Genesis 3:6  The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too. (see all chapter 3)

2 Samuel 11:2  Late one afternoon, after his midday rest, David got out of bed and was walking on the roof of the palace. As he looked out over the city, he noticed a woman of unusual beauty taking a bath. (see all chapter 11)

Job 15:24-25  "For the godless are barren. Their homes enriched through bribery, will burn. They conceive trouble and give birth to evil. Their womb produces deceit." (see all chapter 15)

Psalm 7:14  The wicked conceive evil; they are pregnant with trouble and give birth to lies. (see verses 14-16)

Isaiah 59:4  No one cares about being fair and honest. The people's lawsuits are based on lies. They conceive evil deeds and then give birth to sin. (see all chapter 59)

Galatians 5:17  The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. (see verses 16-26)

 

And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. 

Romans 5:12  When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (see verses 12-21)

Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (see all chapter 6)

Romans 8:6  So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. (see all chapter 8)

Galatians 6:7-8  Don't be misled--you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. (see verses 1-10)
