Listen
to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn't God chosen the poor in this
world to be rich in faith? Aren't they the ones who will inherit the
Kingdom he promised to those who love him? But you dishonor the poor!
Isn't it the rich who oppress you and drag you into court? Aren't they
the ones who slander Jesus Christ, whose noble name you bear?
But you dishonor the poor!
Proverbs 17:5 Those who mock the poor insult their Maker; those who rejoice at the misfortune of others will be punished.
1 Corinthians 11:22 What? Don't you have your own homes for eating and drinking? Or do you really want to disgrace God's church and shame the poor? What am I supposed to say? Do you want me to praise you? Well, I certainly will not praise you for this! (see verses 17-34)
Isn't it the rich who oppress you and drag you into court?

Habakkuk 1:4 The law has become paralyzed, and there is no justice in the courts. The wicked far outnumber the righteous, so that justice has become perverted. (see verses 1-4)
Malachi 3:5 "At that time I will put you on trial. I am eager to witness against all sorcerers and adulterers and liars. (see verses 1-5)
Acts 8:3 But Saul was going everywhere to destroy the church. He went from house to house, dragging out both men and women to throw them into prison. (see verses 1-3)
Acts 17:5-6 But some of the Jews were jealous, so they gathered some troublemakers from the marketplace to form a mob and start a riot. They attacked the home of Jason, searching for Paul and Silas so they could drag them out to the crowd. "Paul and Silas have caused trouble all over the world," they shouted, "and now they are here disturbing our city, too." (see verses 1-9)
Acts 18:12-13 But when Gallio became governor of Achaia, some Jews rose up together against Paul and brought him before the governor for judgment. They accused Paul of "persuading people to worship God in ways that are contrary to our law." (see verses 4-17)
James 5:5-6 You have spent your years on earth in luxury, satisfying your every desire. You have fattened yourselves for the day of slaughter. You have condemned and killed innocent people, who do not resist you. (see verses 1-6)
