James 3:13-16 Part 1 of 3

If you are wise and understand God's ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don't cover up the truth with boasting and lying. For jealousy and selfishness are not God's kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.

If you are wise and understand God's ways, prove it by living an honorable life,
2 Corinthians 8:21  We are careful to be honorable before the Lord, but we also want everyone else to see that we are honorable. (see verses 16-29)
Philippians 1:15  It's true that some are preaching out of jealousy and rivalry. But others preach about Christ with pure motives. (see verses 12-19)
Titus 2:8  Teach the truth so that your teaching can't be criticized. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us. (see all chapter 2)
1 Peter 2:12  Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world. (see verses 4-12)
1 Peter 2:15  It is God's will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you. (see verses 13-17)
1 Peter 3:16  But do this (verse 15) in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ. (see verses 13-17)

doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.
Matthew 5:16  In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. (see verses 13-16)
Titus 2:7  And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching. (see verses 1 -10)
Titus 2:14  He (Jesus Christ) gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds. ((see verses 11-15)
Titus 3:8  This is a trustworthy saying, and I want you to insist on these teachings so that all who trust in God will devote themselves to doing good. These teachings are good and beneficial for everyone. (see verses 1-11)
James 2:18  Now someone may argue, "Some people have faith; others have good deeds." But I say, "How can you show me your faith if you don't have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds." (see verses 14-26)
