James 3:13-16 Part 2 of 3

If you are wise and understand God's ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don't cover up the truth with boasting and lying. For jealousy and selfishness are not God's kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.

2 Corinthians 12:20  For I am afraid that when I come I won't like what I find, and you won't like my response. I am afraid that I will find quarreling, jealousy, anger, selfishness, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorderly behavior. (see verses 11-21)

Acts 5:17  The high priest and his officials, who were Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. (see verses 12-42)

Philippians 1:15  It's true that some are preaching out of jealousy and rivalry. But others preach about Christ with pure motives. (see verses 15-18)

Romans 13:13  Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don't participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy. (see verses 8-14)

Philippians 2:3  Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. (see verses 1-11)

Galatians 5:26  Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another. (see verses 16-26)

 

For jealousy and selfishness are not God's kind of wisdom. 

James 3:17  But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.

James 1:5  If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. (see verses 5-8)

 

Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. 

1 Timothy 4:1  Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. (see verses 1-5)

2 Thessalonians 2:9-10  This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them. (see all chapter 2)
