Now someone may argue, "Some people have faith; others have good deeds." But I say, "How can you show me your faith if you don't have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds." You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can't you see that faith without good deeds is useless?

Romans 3:27-28 Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on obeying the law. It is based on faith. So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law.
Romans 4:4-5 When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned. But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners.

Matthew 8:28-29 When Jesus arrived on the other side of the lake, in the region of the Gadarenes, two men who were possessed by demons met him. They lived in a cemetery and were so violent that no one could go through that area. They began screaming at him, "Why are you interfering with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torture us before God's appointed time?" (see verses 28-34; also Mark 5:11-20)
Luke 4:33-34 Once when he was in the synagogue, a man possessed by a demon--an evil spirit--began shouting at Jesus, "Go away! Why are you interfering with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are--the Holy One of God!" (see verses 33-37; also Mark 1:23-28)
How foolish! Can't you see that faith without good deeds is useless?
James 2:17 So you see, faith by itself isn't enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. (see verses 14-18)
James 2:26 Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works. (see verses 21-26)
