Daniel 9:26-27 Part 2 of 3

"After this period of sixty-two sets of seven, the anointed one will be killed, appearing to have accomplished nothing, and a ruler will arise whose armies will destroy the city and the Temple. The end will come with a flood, and war and its miseries are decreed from that time to the very end. The ruler will make a treaty with the people for a period of one seven, but after half this time, he will put an end to the sacrifices and offerings. And as a climax to all his terrible deeds, he will set up a sacrilegious object that causes desecration until the fate decreed for this defiler is finally poured out on him."

"and war and its miseries are decreed from that time to the very end."

Matthew 24:6-8  "And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don't panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won't follow immediately. Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in may parts of the world. But all this is only the first part of the birth pains, with more to come." (see verses 1-14)
Luke 21:10-11  Then he added, "Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, and there will be famines and plagues in many lands, and there will be terrifying things and great miraculous signs from heaven." (see verses 5-19)
Luke 21:20-22  "And when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you will know that the time of its destruction has arrived. Then those in Judea must flee to the hills. Those in Jerusalem must get out, and those out in the country should not return to the city. For those will be days of God's vengeance, and the prophetic words of the Scriptures will be fulfilled."
Matthew 24:21-22  "For there will be greater anguish than at any time since the world began. And it will never be so great again. In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, not a single person will survive. But it will be shortened for the sake of God's chosen ones." (see verses 16-28)

Daniel 9:26-27 Part 1 of 3

"After this period of sixty-two sets of seven, the anointed one will be killed, appearing to have accomplished nothing, and a ruler will arise whose armies will destroy the city and the Temple. The end will come with a flood, and war and its miseries are decreed from that time to the very end. The ruler will make a treaty with the people for a period of one seven, but after half this time, he will put an end to the sacrifices and offerings. And as a climax to all his terrible deeds, he will set up a sacrilegious object that causes desecration until the fate decreed for this defiler is finally poured out on him."

Wasn't it clearly predicted that the Messiah would have to suffer all these things before entering his glory?" The Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. (see all chapter 24)
Acts 8:32-33  The passage of Scripture he had been reading was this: "He was led like a sheep to the slaughter. And as a lamb is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. He was humiliated and received no justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth." (see verses 26-40, also Isaiah 53:7-8)

"and a ruler will arise whose armies will destroy the city and the Temple. The end will come with a flood,"
Isaiah 28:17  "I will test you with the measuring line of justice and the plumbline of righteousness. Since your refuge is made of lies, a hailstorm will knock it down. Since it is made of deception, a flood will sweep it away." (see verses 14-22)
Daniel 11:10  However, the sons of the king of the north will assemble a mighty army that will advance like a flood and carry the battle as far as the enemy's fortress. (see verses 1-12)

Daniel 9:24-25 Part 1 of 2

"A period of seventy sets of seven has been decreed for your people and your holy city to finish their rebellion, to put an end to their sin, to atone for their guilt, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to confirm the prophetic vision, and to anoint the Most Holy Place. Now listen and understand! Seven sets of seven plus sixty-two sets of seven will pass from the time the command is given to rebuild Jerusalem until a ruler--the Anointed One--comes. Jerusalem will be rebuilt with streets and strong defenses, despite the perilous times."

"A period of seventy sets of seven has been decreed for your people and your holy city"
Isaiah 48:1-2  "Listen to me, O family of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel and born into the family of Judah. Listen, you who take oaths in the name of the LORD and call upon the God of Israel. (see all chapter 25)

"to bring in everlasting righteousness, to confirm the prophetic vision, and to anoint the Most Holy Place."

Jeremiah 23:5-6  "For the time is coming," says the LORD, "when I will raise up a righteous descendant from King David's line. He will be a King who rules with wisdom. He will do what is just and right throughout the land. And this will be his name: 'The LORD Is Our Righteousness.' In that day Judah will be saved, and Israel will live in safety." (see verses 1-8)
Hebrews 9:11-12  So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He explained to me, "Daniel, I have come here to give you insight and understanding. The moment you began praying, a command was given. And now I am here to tell you what it was, for you are very precious to God. Listen carefully so that you can understand the meaning of your vision."

Daniel 10:19  "Don't be afraid," he said, "for you are very precious to God. Peace! Be encouraged! Be strong!" As he spoke these words to me, I suddenly felt stronger and said to him. "Please speak to me, my lord, for you have strengthened me." (see verses 15-19)
Luke 1:28  Gabriel appeared to her and said, "Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!" (see verses 26-38)

Daniel 9:20-21 Part 2 of 2

I went on praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people, pleading with the LORD my God for Jerusalem, his holy mountain. As I was praying, Gabriel, whom I had seen in the earlier vision, came swiftly to me at the time of the evening sacrifice.

As I was praying, Gabriel, whom I had seen in the earlier vision, came swiftly to me
Daniel 8:15-16  As I, Daniel, was trying to understand the meaning of this vision, someone who looked like a man stood in front of me. And I heard a human voice calling out from the Ulai River, "Gabriel, tell this man the meaning of his vision." (see all chapter 8)

at the time of the evening sacrifice.

With one of them, offer two quarts of choice flour mixed with one quart of pure oil of olives; also, offer one quart of wine as a liquid offering. Offer the other lamb in the evening, along with the same offerings of flour and wine as in the morning. It will be a pleasing aroma, a special gift presented to the LORD." (see verses 38-46, also Numbers 28:1-8)
1 Kings 18:36  At the usual time for offering the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet walked up to the altar and prayed, "O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant. And I sat there utterly appalled until the time of the evening sacrifice. At the time of the sacrifice, I stood up from where I had sat in mourning with my clothes torn. I fell to my knees and lifted my hands to the LORD my God. (see all chapter 9)
Psalm 141:1-2  O LORD, I am calling to you. Please hurry! Listen when I cry to you for help! Accept my prayer as incense offered to you, and my upraised hands as an evening offering. (see all Psalm 141)

Daniel 9:20-21 Part 1 of 2

I went on praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people, pleading with the LORD my God for Jerusalem, his holy mountain. As I was praying, Gabriel, whom I had seen in the earlier vision, came swiftly to me at the time of the evening sacrifice.

I went on praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people,
Ezra 10:1  While Ezra prayed and made his confession, weeping and lying face down on the ground in front of the Temple of God, a very large crowd of people from Israel--men, women, and children--gathered and wept bitterly with him. (see chapters 9 and 10)
2 Chronicles 20:9  "They said, 'Whenever we are faced with any calamity such as war, plague, or famine, we can come to stand in your presence before this Temple where your name is honored. We can cry out to you to save us, and you will hear and rescue us.' " (see verses 1-29)

pleading with the LORD my God for Jerusalem, his holy mountain.

2 Chronicles 20:3  Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the LORD for guidance. He also ordered everyone in Judah to begin fasting. (see verses 1-12)
Psalm 145:18-20  The LORD is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth. He grants the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cries for help and rescues them. The LORD protects all those who love him, but he destroys the wicked. (see all Psalm 145)
Isaiah 6:5  Then I said, "It's all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the LORD of Heaven's Armies." (see all chapter 6)
Zechariah 1:12-16  Upon hearing this, the angel of the LORD prayed this prayer: "O LORD of Heaven's Armies, for seventy years now you have been angry with Jerusalem and the towns of Judah. How long until you again show mercy to them?" And the LORD spoke kind and comforting words to the angel who talked with me. Then the angel said to me, "Shout this message for all to hear: 'This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies says: My love for Jerusalem and Mount Zion is passionate and strong. But I am very angry with the other nations that are now enjoying peace and security. I was only a little angry with my people, but the nations inflicted harm on them far beyond my intentions. Therefore, this is what the LORD says: I have returned to show mercy to Jerusalem. My Temple will be rebuilt, says the LORD of Heaven's Armies, and measurements will be taken for the reconstruction of Jerusalem.' " (see verses 1-17)

Daniel 9:17-19 Part 2 of 2

"O our God, hear your servant's prayer! Listen as I plead. For your own sake, Lord, smile again on your desolate sanctuary. O my God, lean down and listen to me. Open your eyes and see our despair. See how your city--the city that bears your name--lies in ruins. We make this plea, not because we deserve help, but because of your mercy. O Lord, hear. O Lord, forgive. O Lord, listen and act! For your own sake, do not delay, O my God, for your people and your city bear your name."

And I will send you out of my sight into exile, just as I did your relatives, the people of Israel.' " (see verses 8-15)
Jeremiah 25:29  " 'I have begun to punish Jerusalem, the city that bears my name. Now should I let you go unpunished? No, you will not escape disaster. I will call for war against all the nations of the earth. I, the LORD of Heaven's Armies, have spoken!' " (see all chapter 25)

"We make this plea, not because we deserve help, but because of your mercy."

Psalm 44:23-26  Wake up, O Lord! Why do you sleep? Get up! Do not reject us forever. Why do you look the other way? Why do you ignore our suffering and oppression? We collapse in the dust, lying face down in the dirt. Rise up! Help us! Ransom us because of your unfailing love. (see all Psalm 44)
Psalm 74:10  How long, O God, will you allow our enemies to insult you? Will you let them dishonor your name forever? (see all Psalm 74)
1 Samuel 12:20-22  "Don't be afraid," Samuel reassured them. "You have certainly done wrong, but make sure now that you worship the LORD with all your heart, and don't turn your back on him. Don't go back to worshiping worthless idols that cannot help or rescue  you--they are totally useless! The LORD will not abandon his people, because that would dishonor his great name. For it has pleased the LORD to make you his very own people." (see all chapter 12)

Daniel 9:15-16 Part 2 of 2

"O Lord our God, you brought lasting honor to your name by rescuing your people from Egypt in a great display of power. But we have sinned and are full of wickedness. In view of all your faithful mercies, Lord, please turn your furious anger away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain. Daniel 9:15-16 Part 1 of 2

"O Lord our God, you brought lasting honor to your name by rescuing your people from Egypt in a great display of power. But we have sinned and are full of wickedness. In view of all your faithful mercies, Lord, please turn your furious anger away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain. All the neighboring nations mock Jerusalem and your people because of our sins and the sins of our ancestors."

"O Lord our God, you brought lasting honor to your name by rescuing your people from Egypt in a great display of power."

Nehemiah 9:10  "You displayed miraculous signs and wonders against Pharaoh, his officials, and all his people, for you knew how arrogantly they were treating our ancestors. You have a glorious reputation that has never been forgotten." (see verses 9-25)

But we have sinned and are full of wickedness.
Nehemiah 9:26  "But despite all this they were disobedient and rebelled against you. They turned their backs on your Law, they killed your prophets who warned them to turn to you, and they committed terrible blasphemies." (see verses 26-31)
1 Kings 14:9-10  " 'You have done more evil than all who lived before you. You have made other gods for yourself and have made me furious with your gold calves. And since you have turned your back on me, I will bring disaster on your dynasty and will destroy every one of your male descendants, slave and free alike, anywhere in Israel. I will burn up your royal dynasty as one burns up trash until it is all gone.' "(see verses 7-16)
Jeremiah 32:23  "Our ancestors came and conquered it and lived in it, but they refused to obey you or follow your word. They have not done anything you commanded. That is why you have sent this terrible disaster upon them." (see verses 22-24)

In view of all your faithful mercies,
Psalm 78:4  We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD, about his power and his mighty wonders. (see verses 1-8)
Micah 6:3-5  "O my people, what have I done to you? What have I done to make you tired of me? Answer me! For I brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from slavery. I sent Moses, Aaron, and Miriam to help you. Don't you remember, my people, how King Balak of Moab tried to have you cursed and how Balaam son of Beor blessed you instead? And remember your journey from Acacia Grove to Gilgal, when I, the LORD, did everything I could to teach you about my faithfulness." (see all chapter 6)

Daniel 9:13-14 Part 4 of 4

"Every curse written against us in the Law of Moses has come true. Yet we have refused to seek mercy from the LORD our God by turning from our sins and recognizing his truth. Therefore, the LORD has brought upon us the disaster he prepared. The LORD our God was right to do all of these things, for we did not obey him."

"for we did not obey him."
Jeremiah 44:2-3  "This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies, the God of Israel, says: You saw the calamity I brought on Jerusalem and all the towns of Judah. They now lie deserted and in ruins. They provoked my anger with all their wickedness. They burned incense and worshiped other gods--gods that neither they nor you nor any of your ancestors had ever known," (see all chapter 44)
Jeremiah 32:23  "Our ancestors came and conquered it and lived in it, but they refused to obey you or follow your word. They have not done anything you commanded. That is why you have sent this terrible disaster upon them." (see verses 16-25)

Psalm 106:13-15  Yet how quickly they forgot what he had done! They wouldn't wait for his counsel! In the wilderness their desires ran wild, testing God's patience in that dry wasteland. So he gave them what they asked for, but he sent a plague along with it. (see all Psalm 106)
Psalm 107:10-12  Some sat in darkness and deepest gloom, imprisoned in iron chains of misery. They rebelled against the word of God, scorning the counsel of the Most High. That is why he broke them with hard labor; they fell, and no one was there to help them. (see verses 10-16)
1 Samuel 15:22-23  But Samuel replied, "What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the LORD, he has rejected you as king." (see all chapter 15)

"Every curse written against us in the Law of Moses (see Deuteronomy 27-30)  has come true. Yet we have refused to seek mercy from the LORD our God

2 Chronicles 33:10-11  The LORD spoke to Manasseh and his people, but they ignored all his warnings. So the LORD sent the commanders of the Assyrian armies, and they took Manasseh prisoner. They put a ring through his nose, bound him in bronze chains, and led him away to Babylon. (see verses 1-13)

A thicket will grow on the heights where the Temple now stands.' But did King Hezekiah and the people kill him for saying this? No, they turned from their sins and worshiped the LORD. Daniel 9:11-12 Part 3 of 3

"All Israel has disobeyed your instruction and turned away, refusing to listen to your voice. So now the solemn curses and judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured down on us because of our sin. You have kept your word and done to us and our rulers exactly as you warned. Never has there been such a disaster as happened in Jerusalem."

"Never has there been such a disaster as happened in Jerusalem."
Isaiah 44:2-6  "This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies, the God of Israel, says: You saw the calamity I brought on Jerusalem and all the towns of Judah. They now lie deserted and in ruins. They provoked my anger with all their wickedness. They burned incense and worshiped other gods--gods that neither they nor you nor any of your ancestors had ever even known. Again and again I sent my servants, the prophets, to plead with them, 'Don't do these horrible things that I hate so much.' But my people would not listen or turn back from their wicked ways. They kept on burning incense to these gods. And so my fury boiled over and fell like fire on the towns of Judah and into the streets of Jerusalem, and they are still a desolate ruin today." (see all chapter 44)
Jeremiah 7:12-15  " 'Go now to the place at Shiloh where I once put the Tabernacle that bore my name. See what I did there because of all the wickedness of my people, the Israelites. While you were doing these wicked things, says the LORD, I spoke to you about it repeatedly, but you would not listen. I called out to you, but you refused to answer. So just as I destroyed Shiloh, I will destroy this Temple that bears my name. This Temple that you trust in for help, this place that I gave to you and your ancestors. And I will send you out of my sight into exile, just as I did your relatives, the people of Israel.' " (see verses 1-29)
Zechariah 7:11-14  "Your ancestors refused to listen to this message. They stubbornly turned away and put their fingers in their ears to keep from hearing. They made their hearts as hard as stone, so they could not hear the instructions or the messages that the LORD of Heaven's Armies had sent them by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. That is why the LORD of Heaven's Armies was so angry with them. Since they refused to listen when I called to them, I would not listen when they called to me, says the LORD of Heaven's Armies. As with a whirlwind, I scattered them among the distant nations, where they lived as strangers. Their land became so desolate that no one even traveled through it. They turned their pleasant land into a desert." (see all chapter 7)

Daniel 9:11-12 Part 2 of 3

"All Israel has disobeyed your instruction and turned away, refusing to listen to your voice. So now the solemn curses and judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured down on us because of our sin. You have kept your word and done to us and our rulers exactly as you warned. Never has there been such a disaster as happened in Jerusalem."

"have been poured down on us because of our sin."
Isaiah 1:2-4  Listen, O heavens! Pay attention, earth! This is what the LORD says: "The children I raised and cared for have rebelled against me. Even an ox knows its owner, and a donkey recognizes its master's care--but Israel doesn't know its master. My people don't recognize my care for them." Oh, what a sinful nation they are--loaded down with a burden of guilt. They are evil people, corrupt children who have rejected the LORD. They have despised the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him. (see verses 1-20)
Jeremiah 8:5-6  " 'Then why do these people stay on their self-destructive path? Why do the people of Jerusalem refuse to turn back? They cling tightly to their lies and will not turn around. I listen to their conversations and don't hear a word of truth. Is anyone sorry for doing wrong? Does anyone say "What a terrible thing I have done." No! All are running down the path of sin as swiftly as a horse galloping into battle!' "

"You have kept your word and done to us and our rulers exactly as you warned."
Isaiah 46:10  "Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish." (see all chapter 46)
Jeremiah 23:20  "The anger of the LORD will not diminish until it has finished all he has planned. In the days to come you will understand all this very clearly." (see verses 16-27)
Matthew 5:17-18  "Don't misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God's law will disappear until its purpose is achieved." (see verses 17-20)
Luke 16:16-17  "Until John the Baptist, the law of Moses and the messages of the prophets were your guides. But now the Good News of the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is eager to get in. But that doesn't mean that the law has lost its force. It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the smallest point of God's law to be overturned." (see verses 14-18)
Zechariah 1:5-6  "Where are your ancestors now? They and the prophets are long dead. But everything I said through my servants the prophets happened to your ancestors, just as I said. As a result, they repented and said, 'We have received what we deserved from the LORD of Heaven's Armies. He has done what he said he would do.' "

2 Kings 22:16-17  " 'This is what the LORD says: I am going to bring disaster on this city and its people. All the words written in the scroll that the king of Judah has read will come true. " (see verses 8-20)

"So now the solemn curses and judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God,
Deuteronomy 11:26-28  "Look, today I am giving you the choice between a blessing and curse! You will be blessed if you obey the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today. But you will be cursed if you reject the commands of the LORD your God and turn away from him and worship gods you have not known before." (see all chapter 11)
Deuteronomy 30:17-18)  "But if your heart turns away and you refuse to listen, and if you are drawn away to serve and worship other gods, then I warn you now that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live a long, good life in the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy." (see all chapter 30)
Lamentations 2:17  But it is the LORD who did just as he planned. He has fulfilled the promises of disaster he made long ago. He has destroyed Jerusalem without mercy. He has caused her enemies to gloat over her and has given them power over her. (see all chapter 2)
Ezekiel 39:23-24  "The nations will then know why Israel was sent into exile--it was punishment for sin, for they were unfaithful to their God. Therefore, I turned away from them and let their enemies destroy them. I turned my face away and punished them because of their defilement and their sins." (see all chapter 39)

Daniel 9:7-8

"Lord, you are in the right; but as you see, our faces are covered with shame. This is true of all of us, including the people of Judah and Jerusalem and all Israel, scattered near and far, wherever you have driven us because of our disloyalty to you. We have been killed, captured, robbed, and disgraced, just as we are today." (see verses 1-7)

Daniel 9:4-6 Part 2 of 2

I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed: "O Lord, you are a great and awesome God! You always fulfill your covenant and keep your promises of unfailing love to those who love you and obey your commands. But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations. We have refused to listen to your servants the prophets who spoke on your authority to our kings and princes and ancestors and to all the people of the land."

Deuteronomy 32:15-18
"But Israel soon became fat and unruly;
the people grew heavy, plump, and stuffed!
Then they abandoned the God who had made them;
they made light of the Rock of their salvation.
They stirred up his jealousy by worshiping foreign gods;
they provoked his fury with detestable deeds.
They offered sacrifices to demons, which are not God,
to gods they had not known before,
to new gods only recently arrived,
to gods their ancestors had never feared.
You neglected the Rock who had fathered you;
you forgot the God who had given you birth." (see verses 15-33)
2 Chronicles 29:6-7  "Our ancestors were unfaithful and did what was evil in the sight of the LORD our God. They abandoned the LORD and his dwelling place; they turned their backs on him. They also shut the doors to the Temple's entry room, and they snuffed out the lamps. They stopped burning incense and presenting burnt offerings at the sanctuary of the God of Israel. (see verses 3-17)
James 5:10  For examples of patience in suffering, dear brothers and sisters, look at the prophets who spoke in the name of the LORD. (see verses 10-11)
Revelation 10:7  "When the seventh angel blows his trumpet, God's mysterious plan will be fulfilled. It will happen just as he announced it to his servants the prophets." (see all chapter 10)
