The LORD is compassionate and merciful,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
He will not constantly accuse us,
nor remain angry forever.
He does not punish us for all our sins;
he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.
He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever.
Psalm 30:5
For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime!
Weeping may last through the night,
but joy comes with the morning. (see all chapter 9)
Isaiah 57:16
"For I will not fight against you forever;
I will not always be angry.
If I were, all people would pass away--
all the souls I have made." (see verses 14-21)
Jeremiah 3:12 Therefore go and give this message to Israel. This is what the LORD says:
"O Israel, my faithless people,
come home to me again,
for I am merciful
I will not be angry with you forever." (see verses 6-15)
Micah 7:18-20
Where is another God like you,
who pardons the guilt of the remnant,
overlooking the sins of his special people?
You will not stay angry with your people forever,
because you delight in showing unfailing love.
Once again you will have compassion on us.
You will trample our sins under your feet
and throw them into the depths of the ocean!
You will show us your faithfulness and unfailing love
as you promised to our ancestors Abraham and Jacob long ago.
(see all chapter 7)
He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.
Ezra 9:13 "Now we are being punished because of our wickedness and our great guilt. But we have actually been punished far less than we deserve, for you, our God, have allowed some of us to survive as a remnant."
(see all chapter 9)
Job 11:6
"If only he (God) would tell you the secrets of wisdom,
for true wisdom is not a simple matter.
Listen! God is doubtless punishing you
far less that you deserve!" (see all chapter 11)
Romans 6:20-23 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the obligation to do right. And what was the result? You are now ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom. But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (see all chapter 6)
