Yet how quickly they forgot what he had done!
They wouldn't wait for his counsel!
In the wilderness their desires ran wild,
testing God's patience in that dry wasteland.
So he gave them what they asked for,
but he sent a plague with it.
Yet how quickly they forgot what he had done!
Exodus 15:24
Then the people complained and turned against Moses. "What are we going to drink?" they demanded. (see verses 22-27)
Exodus 16:2-3 There, too, the whole community of Israel complained about Moses and Aaron.
"If only the LORD had killed us back in Egypt," they moaned. "There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death."
(see all chapter 16)
Exodus 17:3 But tormented by thirst, they continued to argue with Moses. "Why did you bring us out of Egypt? Are you trying to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?" (see verses 1-7)
Psalm 78:21-22
When the LORD heard them, he was furious.
The fire of his wrath burned against Jacob.
Yes his anger rose against Israel,
for they did not believe God
or trust him to care for them. (see verses 11-22)
Psalm 78:42
The did not remember his power
and how he rescued them from their enemies. (see verses 40-53)
They wouldn't wait for his counsel!
Exodus 16:28 The LORD asked Moses, "How long will these people refuse to obey my commands and instructions?" (see verses 9-31)
Joshua 9:14 So the Israelites examined their food (the Hivites'), but they did not consult the LORD. (see all chapter 9)
Psalm 78:10
They did not keep God's covenant
and refused to live by his instructions. (see verses 1-10)
Isaiah 8:19-20 Someone may say to you, "Let's ask the mediums and those who consult the spirits of the dead. With their whisperings and mutterings, they will tell us what to do." But shouldn't people ask God for guidance? Should the living seek guidance from the dead?
Look to God's instructions and teachings! People who contradict his word are completely in the dark. (see verses 11-22)
