Luke 7:31-35 Part 1 of 2

"To what can I compare the people of this generation?" Jesus asked. "How can I describe them? They are like children playing a game in the public square. They complain to their friends, 'We played wedding songs, and you didn't dance, so we played funeral songs, and you didn't weep.' For John the Baptist didn't spend his time eating bread or drinking wine, and you say, 'He's possessed by a demon.' The Son of Man, on the other hand, feasts and drinks, and you say, 'He's a glutton and a drunkard, and a friend of tax collectors and other sinners!' But wisdom is shown to be right by the lives of those who follow it."

"For John the Baptist didn't spend his time eating bread or drinking wine, and you say, 'He's possessed by a demon.' "
Matthew 3:4  John's clothes were woven from coarse camel hair, and he wore a leather belt around his waist. For food he ate locusts and wild honey. (see also Mark 1:6)
Luke 1:15b  "He must never touch wine or other alcoholic drinks."

"The Son of Man, on the other hand, feasts and drinks, and you say, 'He's a glutton and a drunkard,' "
Luke 7:36  One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to have dinner with him, so Jesus went to his home and sat down to eat.
Luke 14:1  One Sabbath day Jesus went to eat dinner in the home of a leader of the Pharisees, and the people were watching him closely.
John 2:1-2  The next day there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration.
John 12:1-2  Six days before the Passover celebration began, Jesus arrived in Bethany, the home of Lazarus--the man he had raised from the dead. A dinner was prepared in Jesus' honor. Martha served, and Lazarus was among those who ate.
