Luke 8:11-15 Part 2 of 5

"This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is God's word. The seeds that fell on the footpath represent those who hear the message only to have the devil come and take it away from their hearts and prevent them from believing and being saved. The seeds on the rocky soil represent those who hear the message and receive it with joy. But since they don't have deep roots, they believe for a while, then they fall away when they face temptation. The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow to maturity. And the seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest, good-hearted people who hear God's word, cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest.

Matthew 13:19  "The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don't understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts."

Mark 4:15  "The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message, only to have Satan come at once and take it away."

Mark 16:15-16  And then he told them, "Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned."

Mark 6:20b  Herod was greatly disturbed whenever he talked with John (the Baptist), but even so, he liked to listen to him.

John 5:35  "John (the Baptist) was like a burning and shining lamp, and you were excited for a while about his message."
