Luke 19:8-10 Part 2 of 2

Meanwhile, Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, "I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!" Jesus responded, "Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save those who were lost."

Jesus responded, "Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham."

Luke 3:8  "Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don't just say to each other, 'We're safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.' That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones."

Romans 4:16  So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham's. For Abraham is the father of all who believe. (see chapter 4)

Galatians 3:6-7  In the same way, "Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith." (Genesis 15:6) The real children of Abraham, then, are those who put their faith in God.

 

"For the Son of Man came to seek and to save those who were lost." 

Matthew 9:13  Then he (Jesus) added, "Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: 'I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.' (Hosea 6:6) For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners."

Matthew 18:12  "If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won't he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost?" (see verses 12-14, also Luke 15:3-7)

John 1:29  The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" (see verses 29-34)

John 3:17  God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.

1 Timothy 1:15  This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners"--and I am the worst of them all.

1 John 5:11-13  And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God's Son does not have life. I have written this to you who believe in the name of God's Son, so that you may know you have eternal life.
