Luke 20:1-4 Part 1 of 2

One day as Jesus was teaching the people and preaching the Good News in the Temple, the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders came up to him. They demanded, "By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right?"  "Let me ask you a question first," he replied. "Did John's authority to baptize come from heaven, or was it merely human?"

One day as Jesus was teaching the people and preaching the Good News in the Temple,
John 7:14  Then, midway through the festival, Jesus went up to the Temple and began to teach. (See verses 1-13)
John 7:28  While Jesus was teaching in the Temple, he called out, "Yes, you know me, and you know where I come from. But I'm not here on my own. The one who sent me is true, and you don't know him." (see verses 15-30)
Luke 19:47  After that (see verses 45-46), he taught daily in the Temple, but the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the other leaders of the people began planning how to kill him.
Luke 21:37  Every day Jesus went to the Temple to teach, and each evening he returned to spend the night on the Mount of Olives.
Matthew 26:55  Then Jesus said to the crowd, "Am I some dangerous revolutionary, that you come with swords and clubs to arrest me? Why didn't you arrest me in the Temple? I was there teaching every day."
John 18:20  Jesus replied, "Everyone knows what I teach. I have preached regularly in the synagogues and the Temple, where the people gather. I have not spoken in secret." (see verses 12-14, 19-24)

the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders came up to him.
Mark 11:27  Again they entered Jerusalem. As Jesus was walking through the Temple area, the leading priests, the leaders of religious law, and the elders came up to him.

They demanded, "By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right?"
Mark 11:28  They demanded, "By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right to do them?" (see also Matthew 21:23)
John 2:18-20  But the Jewish leaders demanded, "What are you doing? If God gave you authority to do this (see verses 13-16), show us a miraculous sign to prove it."  "All right," Jesus replied. "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up."  "What!" they exclaimed. "It has taken forty-six years to build this Temple, and you can rebuild it in three days?" (see verses 21-22)
