    Don't you hear the uproar of your enemies?

        Don't you see that your arrogant enemies are rising up?

    They devise crafty schemes against your people;

        they conspire against your precious ones.

    "Come," they say, "let us wipe out Israel as a nation.

        We will destroy the very memory of its existence."

    By the power of your hand, O LORD,

Esther 3:5-6  When Haman saw that Mordecai would not bow down or show him respect, he was filled with rage. He had learned of Mordecai's nationality, so he decided it was not enough to lay hands on Mordecai alone. Instead, he looked for a way to destroy all the Jews throughout the entire empire of Xerxes.
