Psalm 83:5-8 Part 1 of 3

    Yes, this was their unanimous decision.

        They signed a treaty as allies against you--

    these Edomites and Ishmaelites;

        Moabites and Hagrites;

    Gebalites, Ammonites, and Amalekites;

        and people from Philistia and Tyre.

    Assyria has joined them, too,

        and is allied with the descendants of Lot.

    The kings of the earth prepare for battle; 

        the rulers plot together

    against the LORD

        and against his anointed one.

these Edomites and Ishmaelites; 

Genesis 36:8-9  So Esau (also known as Edom) settled in the hill country of Seir. This is the account of Esau's descendants, the Edomites, who lived in the hill country of Seir. [see all chapter 36]

Genesis 16:11-12  And the angel also said, "You are now pregnant and will give birth to a son. You are to name him Ishmael (which means 'God hears'), for the LORD has heard your cry of distress. This son of yours will be a wild man, as untamed as a wild donkey! He will raise his fist against everyone, and everyone will be against him. Yes, he will live in open hostility against all his relatives." [see all chapter 16]

Genesis 25:18  Ishmael's descendants occupied the region from Havilah to Shur, which is east of Egypt in the direction of Asshur. There they lived in open hostility toward all their relatives. [see verses 12-18]

 

Moabites and Hagrites; 

Genesis 19:36-37  As a result, both of Lot's daughters became pregnant by their own father. When the older daughter gave birth to a son, she named him Moab. He became the ancestor of the nation now known as the Moabites. [see verses 30-38]

Genesis 21:17-18  But God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven, "Hagar, what's wrong? Do not be afraid! God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. Go to him and comfort him, for I will make a great nation from his descendants." [see verses 8-21]
