Then
he told them a story: "A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine
crops. He said to himself, 'What should I do ? I don't have room for
all my crops.' Then he said, 'I know! I'll tear down my barns and build
bigger ones. Then I'll have room to store all my wheat and other goods.
And I'll sit back and say to myself, "My friend, you have enough stored
away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink and be merry!" '
But God said to him, 'You fool! You will die this very night. Then who
will get everything you worked for?' Yes, a person is a fool to store up
earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God."
"Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God."
Ecclesiastes 2:24b-26 Then I realized that these pleasures are from the hand of God. For who can eat or enjoy anything apart from him? God gives wisdom, knowledge and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. This, too, is meaningless--like chasing the wind.
Matthew 6:19-20 "Don't store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal."
Luke 12:33-34 "Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will be also."
1 Peter 1:3-4 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance--an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.
