Psalm 107:23-27 Part 3 of 3

Some went off to sea in ships,

    plying the trade routes of the world.

They, too, observed the LORD's power in action,

    his impressive works on the deepest seas.

He spoke, and the winds rose,

    stirring up the waves.

Their ships were tossed to the heavens

    and plunged again to the depths;

    the sailors cringing in terror.

They reeled and staggered like drunkards

    and were at their wits' end.

Joshua 2:11  "No wonder our hearts have melted in fear! No one has the courage to fight after hearing such things. For the LORD your God is the supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below."  (see all chapter 2)

Jonah 1:5  Fearing for their lives, the desperate sailors shouted to their gods for help and threw the cargo overboard to lighten the ship.

Luke 8:23  As they sailed across, Jesus settled down for a nap. But soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in real danger.  (see verses 22-25)

Isaiah 28:7  

Now, however, Israel is led by drunks

    who reel with wine and stagger with alcohol.

The priests and prophets stagger with alcohol

    and lose themselves in wine.

They reel when they see visions

Luke 21:25-26  "And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken."  (see verses 5-36)
