When they decrease in number and become impoverished
through oppression, trouble, and sorrow,
the LORD pours contempt on their princes,
causing them to wander in trackless wastelands.
But he rescues the poor from trouble
and increases their families like flocks of sheep.
The godly will see these things and be glad,
while the wicked are struck silent.
Those who are wise will take all this to heart;
they will see in our history the faithful love of the LORD.
When they decrease in number and become impoverished through oppression, trouble, and sorrow, the LORD pours contempt on their princes, causing them to wander in trackless wastelands.
2 Kings 10:31-33 But Jehu did not obey the Law of the LORD, the God of Israel, with all his heart. He refused to turn from the sins that Jeroboam had led Israel to commit.
At about that time the LORD began to cut down the size of Israel's territory. King Hazael conquered several sections of the country east of the Jordan River, including all of Gilead, Gad, Reuben, and Manasseh. He conquered the area from the town of Aroer by the Arnon Gorge to as far north as Gilead and Bashan. (see all chapter 10)

oppressed by my enemies? (see all Psalm 43)
Psalm 44:9
But now you have tossed us aside in dishonor.
You no longer lead our armies to battle. (see all Psalm 44)
Psalm 74:1
O God, why have you rejected us so long?
Why is your anger so intense against the sheep of your own pasture?
(see all Psalm 74)
Ezekiel 5:11-12 "As surely as I live, says the Sovereign LORD, I will cut you off completely. I will show you no pity at all because you have defiled my Temple with your vile images and detestable sins. A third of your people will die in the city from disease and famine. A third of them will be slaughtered by the enemy outside the city walls. And I will scatter a third to the winds, chasing them with the sword." (see all chapter 5)

"He removes the royal robe of kings.
They are led away with ropes around their waist."
Job 12:24
