Luke 20:20-22 Part 2 of 2

Watching for their opportunity, the leaders sent spies pretending to be honest men. They tried to get Jesus to say something that could be reported to the Roman governor so he would arrest Jesus. "Teacher," they said, "we know that you speak and teach what is right and are not influenced by what others think. You teach the way of God truthfully. Now tell us--is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"

"Teacher," they said, "we know that you speak and teach what is right and are not influenced by what others think. You teach the way of God truthfully."
Matthew 22:16b  "Teacher," they said, "we know how honest you are. You teach the way of God truthfully. You are impartial and don't play favorites." (see also Mark 12:14a)
John 3:1-2  There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish leader who was a Pharisee. After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. "Rabbi," he said, "we know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you."
Acts 10:34-36  Then Peter replied, "I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right. This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel--that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all." (see verses 1-48)

"Now tell us--is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"
Matthew 22:17  "Now tell us what you think about this: Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?" (see also Mark 12:14b-15a)
Matthew 17:24-27  On their arrival in Capernaum, the collectors of the Temple tax came to Peter and asked him, "Doesn't your teacher pay the Temple tax?"  "Yes, he does," Peter replied. Then he went into the house. But before he had a chance to speak, Jesus asked him, "What do you think, Peter? Do kings tax their own people or the people they have conquered?"  "They tax the people they have conquered," Peter replied. "Well, then," Jesus said, "The citizens are free! However, we don't want to offend them, so go down to the lake and throw in a line. Open the mouth of the first fish you catch, and you will find a large coin. Take it and pay the tax for both of us."
