Luke 20:41-44 Part 1 of 2

Then Jesus presented them with a question. "Why is it," he asked, "that the Messiah is said to be the son of David? For David himself wrote in the book of Psalms: 'The LORD said to my Lord, sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.' Since David called the Messiah 'Lord,' how can the Messiah be his son?"

Then Jesus presented them with a question. "Why is it," he asked, "that the Messiah is said to be the son of David?"
Matthew 1:1  This is the record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of David and of Abraham: (see verses 1-17)
Matthew 12:23  The crowd was amazed and asked, "Could it be that Jesus is the Son of David, the Messiah?"
Matthew 21:9  Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting, "Praise God for the Son of David! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Praise God in highest heaven!" (see Psalms 118:25-26, 148:1)
Matthew 22:41-42  Then, surrounded by the Pharisees, Jesus asked them a question: "What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?" They replied "He is the son of David."
Mark 12:35  Later, as Jesus was teaching the people in the Temple, he asked, "Why do the teachers of religious law claim that the Messiah is the son of David?"

"For David himself wrote in the book of Psalms: 'The LORD said to my Lord, sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.' "
Psalm 110:1  The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet." (See also Matthew 22:44, Mark 12:36, Hebrews 1:13)
Acts 2:34-36  "For David himself never ascended into heaven, yet he said, 'The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.' So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!" (see all chapter 2)
1 Corinthians 15:25  For Christ must reign until he humbles all his enemies beneath his feet. (see verses 12-28)
