The Work of the Holy Spirit - Part 5

The Spirit leads and empowers believers' worship as they use the gifts.

1 Corinthians 14:26  Well, my brothers and sisters, let's summarize. When you meet together, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in tongues, and another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must strengthen all of you.
1 Corinthians 14:1-4  Let love be your highest goal! (see 1 Corinthians 13) But you should also desire the special abilities the Spirit gives--especially the ability to prophesy. For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won't be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit, but it will all be mysterious. But one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them. A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but the one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church.
(see 1 Corinthians 14:1-25)
1 Corinthians 14:39-40  So, my dear brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and don't forbid speaking in tongues. But be sure that everything is done properly and in order.

The Spirit guarantees that believers will receive all the blessings God promised.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22  It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned, and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.  (see 2 Corinthians 1:12-24)
2 Corinthians 5:5  God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit.  (see 2 Corinthians 5:1-10)
Ephesians 1:12-14  God's purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God. And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God's guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.  (see all Ephesians 1)
Ephesians 2:17-18  He brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near. Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.  (see all Ephesians 2)
