Luke 2:33-35 Part 2 of 5

Jesus' parents were amazed at what was being said about him. Then Simeon blessed them, and he said to Mary, the baby's mother, "This child is destined to cause many in Israel to fall, but he will be a joy to many others. He has been sent as a sign from God, but many will oppose him. As a result, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your very soul."

"This child is destined to cause many in Israel to fall,"
Isaiah 8:14-15  "He (the LORD of Heaven's Armies) will keep you safe. But to Israel and Judah he will be a stone that makes people stumble, a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare. Many will stumble and fall, never to rise again. They will be snared and captured."
Matthew 21:44  "Anyone who stumbles over that stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone it falls on."
1 Corinthians 1:23  So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it's all nonsense.
John 9:39  Then Jesus told him, "I entered this world to render judgment--to give sight to the blind and to show to those who think they see that they are blind."
Luke 6:24-26  "What sorrow awaits you who are rich, for you have your only happiness now. What sorrow awaits you who are fat and prosperous now, for a time of awful hunger awaits you. What sorrow awaits you who laugh now, for your laughing will turn to mourning and sorrow. What sorrow awaits you who are praised by the crowds, for their ancestors also praised false prophets."
Luke 20:17-18  Jesus looked at them and said, "Then what does this Scripture mean? 'The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.' (Psalm 118:22) Everyone who stumbles over that stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone it falls on."
1 Peter 2:7-8  Yes, you who trust him recognize the honor God has given him. But for those who reject him, "The stone the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone." (Psalm 118:22) And, "He is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall." (Isaiah 8:14) They stumble because they do not obey God's word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them.
