Luke 3:10-14 Part 2 of 3

The crowds asked, "What should we do?" John replied, "If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry." Even corrupt tax collectors came to be baptized and asked, "Teacher, what should we do?" He replied, "Collect no more taxes than the government requires."  "What should we do?" asked some soldiers. John replied, "Don't extort money or make false accusations. And be content with your pay."

"If you have food, share it with those who are hungry."
Isaiah 58:7  "Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help."
Ezekiel 18:7  "He (a certain righteous man, see verse 5) is a merciful creditor, not keeping the items given as security by poor debtors. He does not rob the poor but instead gives food to the hungry and provides clothes for the needy."
Ephesians 4:28  If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.
James 2:15-16  Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, "Goodbye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well"--but then you don't give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?
1 John 3:17  If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion--how can God's love be in that person?

Even corrupt tax collectors came to be baptized and asked, "Teacher what should we do?"
Luke 7:29  When they heard this, all the people--even the tax collectors--agreed that God's way was right, for they had been baptized by John.

He replied, "Collect no more taxes than the government requires."
Luke 19:2  There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become very rich.
Luke 19:8  Meanwhile, Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, "I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!"
