Luke 6:12-16 Part 3 of 4

One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night. At daybreak he called together all of his disciples and chose twelve of them to be apostles. Here are their names: Simon (whom he named Peter); Andrew (Peter's brother), James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James (son of Alphaeus), Simon (who was called the zealot), Judas (son of James), Judas Iscariot (who later betrayed him).

Here are their names: Simon (whom he named Peter),

Matthew 16:18  "Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means 'rock'), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it."

John 1:42  Then Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus. Looking intently at Simon, Jesus said, "Your name is Simon, son of John--but you will be called Cephas" (which means "Peter").

Andrew (Peter's brother),

Matthew 4:18  One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers--Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew--throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. [also Mark 1:16]

John 1:40-41  Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of these men who heard what John said and then followed Jesus. Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, "We have found the Messiah" (which means "Christ").

 

James, John, 

Matthew 4:21  A little farther up the shore he saw two other brothers, James and John, sitting in a boat with their father, Zebedee, repairing their nets. 

Mark 3:17  James and John (the sons of Zebedee, but Jesus nicknamed them "Sons of Thunder"),

John 13:23  The disciple Jesus loved, [John] was sitting next to Jesus at the table.

John 19:26  When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, "Dear woman, here is your son."

Revelation 1:9  I, John, am your brother and your partner in suffering and in God's Kingdom and in the patient endurance to which Jesus calls us. I was exiled to the island of Patmos for preaching the word of God and for my testimony about Jesus.
