Luke 6:46-49 Part 2 of 2

"So why do you keep calling me 'Lord, Lord!' when you don't do what I say? I will show you what it's like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the flood waters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. But anyone who hears and doesn't obey is like a person who builds a house without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins."

"and do not do what I say?"

Malachi 1:6b-8  "But you ask, 'How have we ever shown contempt for your name?' You have shown contempt by offering defiled sacrifices on my altar. Then you ask, 'How have we defiled the sacrifices?' You defile them by saying the altar of the LORD deserves no respect. When you give blind animals as sacrifices, isn't that wrong? And isn't it wrong to offer animals that are crippled and diseased? Try giving gifts like that to your governor, and see how pleased he is!" says the LORD of Heaven's Armies.

Matthew 7:24  "Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock."

Luke 8:21  Jesus replied, "My mother and my brothers are all those who hear God's word and obey it." 

Luke 11:28  Jesus replied, "But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice." 

James 1:22  But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. (see also verses 23-25)

Matthew 7:26  "But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn't obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand."

Ezekiel 13:10-12  "This will happen because these evil prophets deceive my people by saying, 'All is peaceful' when there is no peace at all! It's as if the people have built a flimsy wall, and these prophets are trying to reinforce it by covering it with whitewash! Tell these whitewashers that their wall will soon fall down. A heavy rainstorm will undermine it; great hailstones and mighty winds will knock it down. And when the wall falls, the people will cry out, 'What happened to your whitewash?' " (see verses 1-16)
