Habakkuk 1:12-13 Part 2 of 2

O LORD my God, my Holy One, you who are eternal--surely you do not plan to wipe us out? O LORD, our Rock, you have sent these Babylonians to correct us, to punish us for our many sins. But you are pure and cannot stand the sight of evil. Will you wink at their treachery? Should you be silent while the wicked swallow up people more righteous than they?

But you are pure and cannot stand the sight of evil.
Leviticus 19:2  "Give the following instructions to the entire community of Israel. You must be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy." (see all chapter 19)
2 Samuel 22:31  "God's way is perfect. All the LORD's promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection." (see verses 31-33, also Psalm 18:30)
Psalm 5:4  O God, you take no pleasure in wickedness; you cannot tolerate the sins of the wicked. (see verses 5-6)
1 John 3:3  And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure. (see verses 1-3)

Will you wink at their treachery?
Isaiah 4:16  We hear songs of praise from the ends of the earth, songs that give glory to the Righteous One! But my heart is heavy with grief. Weep for me, for I wither away. Deceit still prevails, and treachery is everywhere. (see all chapter 24)
Habakkuk 1:3  Must I forever see these evil deeds? Why must I watch all this misery? Wherever I look, I see destruction and violence. I am surrounded by people who love to argue and fight.

Should you be silent while the wicked swallow up people more righteous than they?
Job 21:7  "Why do the wicked prosper, growing old and powerful?" (see all chapter 21)
Job 24:1  "Why doesn't the Almighty bring the wicked to judgment? Why must the godly wait for him in vain?" (see all chapter 24)
Psalm 35:22  O LORD, you know all about this. Do not stay silent. Do not abandon me now, O Lord. (see all chapter 35)
Psalm 73:3  For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness. (see all chapter 73)
Ecclesiastes 7:15  I have seen everything in this meaningless life, including the death of good young people and the long life of wicked people. (see verses 15-29)
Ecclesiastes 8:14  And this is not all that is meaningless in our world. In this life, good people are often treated as though they were wicked, and wicked people are often treated as though they were good. This is so meaningless!
Malachi 3:15  " 'From now on we will call the arrogant blessed. For those who do evil get rich, and those who dare God to punish them suffer no harm.' " (see verses 13-15)
