Habakkuk 1:5-8 Part 1 of 3

The LORD replied, "Look around at the nations; look and be amazed! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn't believe even if someone told you about it. I am raising up the Babylonians, a cruel and violent people. They will march across the world and conquer other lands. They are notorious for their cruelty and do whatever they like. Their horses are swifter than cheetahs and fiercer than wolves at dusk. Their charioteers charge from far away. Like eagles, they swoop down to devour their prey."

 

The LORD replied, "Look around at the nations; look and be amazed!"

Isaiah 29:9  Are you amazed and incredulous? Then go ahead and be blind. You are stupid, but not from wine! You stagger, but not from liquor! (see verses 1-10)

Isaiah 29:14  "Because of this, I (the LORD) will once again astound these hypocrites with amazing wonders. The wisdom of the wise will pass away, and the intelligence of the intelligent will disappear." (see verses 11-24)

Jeremiah 4:9  "In that day," says the LORD, "the king and the officials will tremble in fear. The priests will be struck with horror and the prophets will be appalled." (see verses 3-18)

Isaiah 28:21-22  The LORD will come as he did against the Philistines at Mount Perazim (see 2 Samuel 5:20) and against the Amorites at Gibeon (see Joshua 10:10-13). He will come to do a strange thing; he will come to do an unusual deed: For the Lord, the LORD of Heaven's Armies, has plainly said that he is determined to crush the whole land. So scoff no more, or your punishment will be even greater. (see verses 14-22)

Acts 13:40-41  "Be careful! Don't let the prophets' words apply to you. For they said, 'Look, you mockers, be amazed and die! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn't believe even if someone told you about it.' " (see verses 13-43)

Deuteronomy 28:49-50  "The LORD will bring a distant nation against you from the end of the earth, and it will swoop down on you like a vulture. It is a nation whose language you do not understand, a fierce and heartless nation that shows no respect for the old and no pity for the young." (see verses 15-68)

Jeremiah 5:15-16  "O Israel, I will bring a distant nation against you," says the LORD. "It is a mighty nation, an ancient nation, a people whose language you do not know, whose speech you cannot understand. Their weapons are deadly; their warriors are mighty." (see verses 1-19)
